Creative Youth Network (CYN) is inviting youth organisations and young people across Bristol to get involved in its new Digital Youth Voice pilot, with the launch of paid micro-commissions and a Youth Editorial Steering Group.
Be part of Bristol’s digital creative content movement
The Digital Youth Voice pilot will bring together young people, youth organisations and creative partners to produce a consistent stream of youth-led content β from interviews and storytelling to podcasts, videos and social content. This is an opportunity to support young people from your community to share their experiences, perspectives and ideas, while building skills in digital content creation and contributing to a wider city-wide youth voice platform.
Thanks to funding from Bristol City Council, the programme will create a city-wide, youth-led digital platform where young people can share their experiences, explore issues affecting their lives, and highlight opportunities and support available locally.
As part of the pilot, Creative Youth Network is offering:
- 12 paid micro-commissions for youth organisations and groups
- A Youth Editorial Steering Group made up of young volunteers from across Bristol
These opportunities will work alongside further paid roles for young people at Creative Youth Network which make up the Editorial Team for the programme. Together, these opportunities are designed to ensure young people are not only involved in content creation, but are also shaping what stories are told and how they are shared.

Micro Commissions
we will fund 12 micro-commissions for organisations and groups across Bristol to contribute content that reflects their communities and lived experiences. The commissions invite young people to work with organisations to produce a piece of long-form content β written, video, or audio content that explores a topic in depth and typically takes more than a few minutes to consume.
The commissions will enable groups to:
- Share stories and perspectives from their communities
- Explore issues that matter to young people
- Highlight local opportunities and services
- Build skills in digital storytelling and media
The programme is particularly interested in working with organisations supporting under-represented and seldom-heard young people, ensuring a diverse range of voices are included across the city.
Be a Youth Volunteer and build your digital skills and knowledge
Young people aged across Bristol are also invited to apply to join the Youth Editorial Steering Group. This project is about more than content β itβs about ensuring young people are heard and that their voices shape decisions, services and opportunities across the city.
Participants will gain experience in leadership, decision-making, digital skills and creative direction, while helping influence conversations and decision-making across Bristol on issues that impact young people’s lives.
This is a voluntary role, meaning it is unpaid. However, those attending at least 5 sessions will receive a voucher as a thank you from us for taking part! We will also provide pizza at sessions and reimburse reasonable travel and other expenses.
This group will meet monthly and play a key role in:
- Setting the direction and themes of the project
- Generating and reviewing content ideas
- Ensuring a wide range of youth voices are represented
- Influencing how stories are told and shared
You can upload a video or audio as part of the process if this is easier for you. Or contact us at marketing@creativeyouthnetwork.org.uk if you need help with the application process.

A platform for youth voice and influence
The Digital Youth Voice pilot brings together young people, youth organisations and creative partners to build a sustainable model for youth-led storytelling and participation. This will be the first digital programme for young people across Bristol.
Content created through the project will be shared across digital platforms and partner networks, with insights feeding into broader youth voice structures and local decision-making. Creative Youth Network will set up the project with key roles working within the organisation to offer support, training and guidance. However, its longer term legacy beyond the pilot will be decided by young people as the project takes shape.
