For Young People at The Station

Designed with and for young people, and especially those at a disadvantage to breaking into the Creative Industries, The Courts offers early-career creatives the chance to grow within a welcoming, modern space which is endorsed, used and supported by the region’s established creative community.

What does The Courts offer young people?

The Courts is where collaboration, aspirations and futures are forged. It hosts a growing community in an environment where young people’s ideas and voices are respected, platformed and nurtured. It strengthens the region’s cultural sector by nurturing talent and promoting collaboration between established professionals and young talent across all disciplines. We are seeing the power of real, equal collaboration between established creative professionals and young people and watching young creatives take meaningful steps towards sustainable careers in the industry.

What happens at The Courts?

Young people from all walks of life can access holistic support, connect with a growing network of creative professionals, benefit from give back opportunities, and find mentorship or development opportunities.

The work of young people can be found throughout The Courts spaces with permanent murals, sculptures and works that respond to the experiences of the artists and creators as well as the history of the building.

This is accompanied by temporary exhibitions and performances that take place throughout the year, working within partnership with other creative and youth charities to fulfil on our commitment to platform the work of young people who face barriers to the industry.

750+ people of all ages attended Creative Youth Network led events in The Courts first year, engaging with the building, experiencing powerful artworks and seeing performances by young people.

Opening Hours:

The Station reception is currently open Monday – Friday from 9am to 9pm and on these days you can speak to a youth worker from 2-8pm.
